Some background information about my interests and pasttimes. My patient partner (of 3 years now) keeps me focused and shares my interests, which helps when you have to wait for that one perfect shot.
I have numerous interests, and some, based on the contents of this site, have their roots in ornithology (birds), nature, and amateur photography. I dabbled in photography during my early teen years, but it wasn't until 1991 that I picked up my first SLR camera - and I haven't looked back! I have gone digital with the Nikon D70, and have been amazed how this revolution has changed the process of photography.Click here to jump to the beginning of my web portfolio.
I would like to think that most people that know me would describe me as a kind, gentle and generous man with a kind heart and a good ear for listening. Only a select few have come to know me completely, with my deep secrets and fears, and the inner workings of my mind.
What else is there that gives me energy to face the world? Gardening - I find it relaxing and refreshing to work the fertile earth and bring things to life. Astronomy - gazing at the Milky Way on a moonless night always awes me. Hiking, camping, birding and canoeing - almost any opportunity that gets me outside and reconnected with nature's energy is always appreciated and rarely turned down. Other stuff: music (classical, folk, Celtic, rock, jazz), skiing (cross country), skating (although my old hockey knees prevent me from being a jackrabbit on the ice), stamps, long walks (preferably with a close friend), good food, drink and friends, fine art, and whatever else might pique my interest. I've learned one should never discount anything before it has been tried at least once; when I was younger, I believed I wouldn't like camping, canoeing, sea food, skiing, and many other things - boy, was I wrong!
Carpe diem!
